Volunteer with AFS

Helping to bring the people of the world together is exciting, interesting, and rewarding work. For more than 60 years AFS Volunteers have been building bridges of intercultural understanding and changing the way the world works.

AFS, as a truly volunteer-based organization, has always had a strong commitment to the approximately 7,000 volunteers in the U.S. and more than 30,000 volunteers worldwide.

Our global partnerships enables more than 11,000 U.S. and international students to benefit from an AFS international educational exchange experience every year.

Become part of an international family that is making a world of difference by volunteering with AFS in your community. If your community doesn’t have an AFS Chapter, we may be able to help you start one!

There are many ways you can help AFS with your volunteer time:

• Help international students feel at home in America
• Build bridges of understanding between people
• Assist with community events
• Work with young Americans who want to go abroad
• Work with area high schools, organizations, and families

Steps to becoming an AFS Volunteer:

1. Learn about the volunteer registration process.
2. Complete the online registration form.
3. Learn about AFS History and receive an orientation.
