RAVES: Send roses to East Texas Families for hosting AFS exchange students.

East Texas AFS Intercultural Programs/USA (formerly the American Field Service) would like to recognize 19 local families who stepped forward to open their homes and lives to 15 AFS Exchange Students who attended local high schools in our community. AFS is a worldwide, nonprofit organization that has been leading international high school student exchange for 60 years.

These 15 outstanding students from all over the world would like to thank East Texas for a wonderful year.

Not only did they come to love their host families but they came to love this community. “East Texas will always be in my heart and a place I will call home” says Agathe from Belgium.

The students would love to thank the principals and teachers at Robert E. Lee, Chapel Hill, Lindale, Arp, Whitehouse, Brownsboro and Van for welcoming them into their schools, and taking the time to teach them.

These students left behind everything that was comfortable to them, their families, their language and their friends.
