ACTION ALERT: Urge Your Legislators to Support Exchange Funding in Supplemental Appropriations Bill

The Alliance for International Educational Intercultural Exchange distributed an Action Alert urging that we contact our Senators and Representatives requesting they support the House version of the supplemental appropriations bill being considered.

The Senate accepted an amendment proposed by Sen. John Ensign (R-NV) to cut $25 million in funding for State Department exchanges from the supplemental appropriations bill. The bill was passed by the Senate and will now proceed to a House-Senate conference to reconcile differences in the bills.

The House version of the supplemental spending bill includes $20 million for exchanges.

We encourage you to contact your legislators urging them to ensure the final version of the bill includes the funds for exchanges stipulated by the House.

We urgently need as many letters to Congress as possible to ensure that these important exchange funds are preserved. Please share this message widely with your staff, members, and local chapters.

Please take the time now to visit the Alliance for International Educational Intercultural Exchange website to let your voice be heard. It’s quick and easy to do! Sample letters that you can send to Senators and Representatives are provided.

Thank you for taking action today.
