Welcome Receptions
Consulates, missions and other venues around New York City will open their doors to AFS on the evening of Friday, October 26th. These welcome receptions will provide anniversary guests with an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, fellow participants, staff and volunteers.
Price: Free, but registration is required.
Locations: Missions and Consulates and other venues around the city. More details to follow.

Saturday, October 27
Location: AFS World Peace Forum

The Peace Forum is the main event of the New York City anniversary weekend. The forum is envisioned as an opportunity to convene distinguished guests as keynote speakers and panelists to discuss themes related to promoting peace, international diplomacy and the growing importance of intercultural education as a tool to promote wider global understanding and peace. Featured guests and speakers include:

Saturday Evening, October 27
New York City Harbor Cruise with Latin Dancing
Salsa and samba with AFS on a 3-hour harbor cruise. Climb aboard Atlantica, a 155-foot yacht with three decks and take in the sights of lower Manhattan including the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the bridges of New York Harbor. This very special event will include an open bar, dinner, and dancing. This evening will be a fun party for everyone to join together, dance, re-connect, meet new people and celebrate the 60th anniversary of AFS Intercultural Programs.
Location: Pier 17, South Street Seaport.
Subway: 2, 3, 4, 5, J, Z, M trains to Fulton Street.

Sightseeing Tours:
Harlem Gospel Tour
Location: Tour departs from Roosevelt Hotel (45 E. 45th Street at Madison Avenue)
Time: 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Price: Tickets: $50 per person
Enjoy a Harlem Gospel tour on Sunday morning. This four-hour tour departs from the Roosevelt Hotel at 9:30 AM and returns at 1:30 PM. This guided tour includes a 1-hour gospel service at a Harlem church and walking tour of Harlem though the neighborhoods of Hamilton Heights, Sugar Hill, Sylvan Terrance.
Closing Ceremony at the Roosevelt Hotel
Location: 45 E. 45th Street at Madison Avenue
Subways: Many subway lines criss-cross the vicinity of the Roosevelt Hotel. Closest stops are 50th Street and 42nd Street.
Time: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Price: Tickets: Free, but reservations required.
This closing ceremony will be hosted by Tachi Cazal, President of AFS Intercultural Programs and Alex Plinio, President of AFS-USA and will provide you with yet another opportunity for AFS connection and reflection. Light refreshments will be served.
