So you want to go abroad, but you don’t know where. Somewhere in Asia sounds good, but then Europe is interesting, too. In Turkey you can have a taste of both! Start your adventure abroad in Istanbul, the only city in the world to span two continents, then travel to meet your host family in this land of scenic coastlines, vibrant bazaars, historic landmarks, and exceptional cuisine. You’ll find friendly and open people who are eager to share their rich culture with you.

And you may be eligible for a scholarship of up to $2000 just for choosing this fascinating destination! In total, seven $2000 scholarships for the high school year program and two scholarships of $1000 for the summer homestay will be awarded.

All you have to do to qualify is submit your full application to go abroad with AFS by February 29th. (You’ll need to submit your preliminary application first.) These scholarships are need-based, so you must include the AFS financial aid application. Be sure to mark that you’re interested in going to Turkey. If you’ve already submitted your application and want to be considered for these scholarships, just be sure your financial aid application is complete and tell your Advisor that you want to go to Turkey! Awards will be made in mid-March and will be based on the financial aid applications.
