After returning from your AFS exchange, you may be asking: “How can I get involved as an AFS Returnee?” Now is an ideal time to help others realize the unparalleled benefits of studying abroad. Here are five simple ways to become involved as a Returnee and help others realize what AFS is all about:
1. Facebook Me!
Want to know the easiest way to become an active Returnee? Join the ‘Ask an AFSer’ Facebook Group. This is an active community connecting interested students with Returnees, addressing any AFS-related questions.
- Ask an AFSer Facebook Group
- Let us know if you’re interested in becoming a Returnee Facebook Officer
2. Be the Returnee Voice
AFS offers regular information sessions online for interested students and we need your Returnee wisdom! With Online Info Sessions and Fundraising Workshops happening every week, we’re always looking for Returnees willing to share their experience.
- Learn more about Online Info Sessions and Fundraising Workshops
- Sign up for when you are available and we’ll contact you.
3. Share your AFS Photos or Videos
You probably captured some “Kodak” moments during your AFS exchange or perhaps took a video of some crazy activity with your host family. Please share any photos or videos you took while abroad and we may feature them online for other students to better visualize their future exchange.
4. How Did You Save?
How did you save money for your AFS experience? Did you get a part-time job, a weekly dog-sitting gig or a local business sponsorship? Add to the growing list of fundraising ideas over on the Fundraising Wiki.
5. Get Involved Locally
Connect with Returnees and volunteers in your area and register as a local AFS volunteer. Then you will have the opportunity to conduct school presentations, organize AFS gatherings, and much more.
